Usually a round stone with a complicated faceting such as the ‘Princess Diamond’ is very popular but this changes according to the current fashion trends. The stone’s color remains most desired in its pristine translucency which means that white diamonds still hold ascendancy in this regard. Yet, some tinted diamonds which are natural and those are starting to become increasingly popular. N

evertheless the ways for diamond’s coloring are progressing, as are the methods of concealing imperfections. So beware of those factors. Commercial increases in value will be met with technological progressions.

Diamond fluorescence However, a lot of diamonds, will show some fluorescence. Ask for the fluorescence test, which in case it gives a powerful reaction isn’t as desired as another stone sue to the fact that the stone might change its color under divergent conditions and light.

The carat decides most of its value so the deeper proportioned stones will be of greater and cost and value whereas the shallow shaped stones will therefore be off less value and quite usually will be seen as appropriate for further use once set in a piece of jewelry.

The information on each diamond’s certificate on sale will also showcase the diameter and it is then possible to double check the gem you are considering buying as some difference may happen here. The standard diameter for a one carat diamond is 6.5 millimeters.
Here are various ways to express One Carat:

200 milligrams

1 ct.

1/5 gram

0.20 grams

100 points

Although there are artificial diamonds produced, they are not generally of gem size and are mainly used for industry purposes.

But there are numerous synthetic stones, which appear of superlative quality and even compare with some diamonds in their brilliance.

Nevertheless, the sole way to avoid the trouble is to trade simply with a single diamond trader so that you are confident that each stone is real and with no flaws.

Remember to always ask your jeweler if the stone is a real diamond or if it is a cubic moissanite, zirconia, or other synthetic crystal. A reputable jeweler will give you the right and honest answer.

Guide on how to choose and purchase a diamond.

Should you desire to purchase a diamond, it’s integral to consider the requirements for both right choice for matters of personal value and financial investment, if it’s for personal purposes.

Also a superficial knowledge of the range of diamonds existing on the market can be quite nerve-wracking, it’s really good to have a firm grasp as to the price of genuine gemstones and also the basic signs to identify superior quality as well as inferior diamonds.

Understanding the diamond marketplace

First of all, diamonds are sold around the world and are registered on a system established in New York to determine precise price to the industry. These prices are the principal reference point for diamond dealers along with the Rapaport Diamond Report, which is revised each month. A great deal of wholesale sellers confine their prices to these benchmarks and prices will not diverge by more than a few percent throughout the world. This permits a certain reliability, which usually lets the customer to have confidence in the price being asked. But this is the standard wholesale price, to which must be added sales taxes and import duties, which change depeding on the country.

As the consumer you must relate to the retail price, which will certainly change. it’s challenging to analogize prices on the marketplace as the value of a stone will differ and without a precise comparison you only have the jeweler’s report and certificate as a reference when endeavouring to determine value. The worth of the diamond is important to both its suitability within an piece of jewelry and its monetary value .

They have been used as treasured gemstones and religious icons since ancient India and were used in engraving tools dating back to the beginnings of human history. Diamonds have been known in India for at least 3000 to 6000 years.

There are two industries in the diamond business: that dealing with gem-grade diamonds and that dealing with industrial-grade diamonds. The two markets act in vastly different ways.

A large trade in gemstone-diamonds exists today. Gem diamonds do not get traded as a commodity and instead there is a substantial mark-up for the sale of diamonds. One hallmark of the trade in this type of diamonds is its significant concentration.

Their cutting and distribution are limited to Antwerp, London, New York, Tel Aviv, Amsterdam and Surat.

A single company, DeBeers, controls a significant proportion of the trade in diamonds. The company is based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and London, England.

Much of the diamond cutting is done in Antwerp, while New York is where almost all of the diamonds are sold. New York also handles the large, unusually shaped diamonds for cutting. The De Beers Company has held a dominant position in the sales, mining and cutting of diamonds since it was founded in 1880. The company currently mines forty percent of the world’s annual diamond production although at one time it mined over eighty percent of the word’s rough diamonds.
